This is a natural edge vase made of Olive, 6 inches tall. It was turned green, meaning the wood was freshly cut and still wet. Rather than warp like most green turnings, it somehow retained its shape, probably because of the design geometry. It is sanded to 1200 grit and oiled. It has a satin sheen and to this day, the natural edge is still intact.
The vase is made from a log obtained when my Uncle Dave Stieve cut down his Olive Tree. I asked him if he was sure it was Olive because I didn't remember it. He said we ate the olives from it year after year. You can't argue with that statement.
