This is a very, very early art piece for me. It is Red Oak 3 inches tall. The black accent lines are burnt into the wood. It is sanded to 320 grit, left natural with no stain, and finished with a water based varnish.
The women's club my wife belonged to was having a boutique sale and she wanted something to sell. I offered to make some turnings. When? Tomorrow. Yikes! So I got busy and worked all night to have 50 drying and ready to go in time for the boutique the next morning.
They turned out to be a popular and quick sale item, so I ended up making quite a few more for family and friends. The shapes were one of a kind and therefore easy to make.
