This Finial was made from Maple and is 3 inches tall. The wood is straight grained and excellent for fragile art pieces like finials. The art piece will be used in the future for a miniature lidded box.
The art piece is unfinished for a couple of reasons. The first is to see the tool techniques learned in class with Cindy Drozda the second is that it may be used as part of a lidded vessel and the finish needs to match.
Finials are not just fragile, there are a lot of design features and proportions to consider. Over the years, Cindy Drozda has perfected these proportions and shares them when you take her classes.
